SALT LAKE CITY, UT—Feb. 25, 2015—Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate, trademark brands of BaseCamp Franchising, recognized top performing stores during their annual meeting Feb. 9 thru Feb. 11 in Midway, Utah.
Each year, more than 200 franchise owners and managers from store locations all over the United States, Portugal, and Canada come together for training, to discuss new franchise developments, and recognize top performing stores.
This year, Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate store owners gathered in the historic, Swiss-inspired city of Midway for meetings centered around the theme “Higher”. Selected from 107 Kid to Kid stores and 43 Uptown Cheapskate locations, BaseCamp Franchising presented the following awards for outstanding achievements during 2014:
Kid to Kid Store of the Year: Kid to Kid of Cumming, GA
Kid to Kid Top Performer: Kid to Kid of Arlington, TX
Most Improved: Kid to Kid of Midlothian, VA
Fast Track: Kid to Kid of Rockville, MD
Uptown Cheapskate Store of the Year for Profitability: Timonium, MD
Uptown Cheapskate Store of the Year for Top Sales: Evans, GA
Uptown Cheapskate Rookie of the Year: Watauga, TX
Best Merchandising: Uptown Cheapskate of Lewisville, TX
Best Grand Opening: Uptown Cheapskate of Sugar House, UT
“Our outstanding franchise owners operate the best resale stores in the country,” said Shauna Sloan, Founder of Kid to Kid. “They serve their communities by recycling hundreds of thousands of items each year, supporting local charities, and putting millions of dollars back into the pockets of the customers who sell and shop. Our Annual Meeting provides a great opportunity for our franchisees to learn from each other about building their businesses and serving their communities.”
This year, two stores shared the Store of the Year honors for Uptown Cheapskate – one for sales, and one for profitability. Nancy Kline, owner of Uptown Cheapskate in Timonium, MD and winner of Store of the Year for Profits stated, “It feels so great to be part of a franchise system where the other owners are looking out for each other and cheering each other on.”
Shannon Clark, owner of Uptown Cheapskate in Evans, GA and winner of Store of the Year for Sales credited her store team and franchise system for her success. “I couldn’t have done it without my hard-working staff and strong belief in the franchise system,” said Clark.
The Fast Track award for Kid to Kid is new this year, and was given to a rookie owner who accomplished record-breaking growth within the first full year of operation.
“I have always heard do what you love and you will never work a day in your life!” stated Leily Kiani, owner of Kid to Kid in Rockville, MD and winner of the Fast Track award. “I am so excited to be where I am and to have this success is so amazing. I have a great team in Rockville and I would never have been here without them.”
Rob Phillips, owner of the Kid to Kid store in Midlothian, VA has won the Most Improved award an unprecedented three years in a row with a 44 percent sales increase. “We wouldn’t have been able to win this award without following the franchise systems, sticking to our high buying standards and working together as a team,” said Phillips.
