BOARDMAN, OH—Local business owners Trish Couche and Pete Zinnicker will hold the Grand Opening of their store, Uptown Cheapskate, on Thursday, March 3rd . This contemporary teen and young adult fashion reseller, located at 105 Boardman-Canfield Road in Boardman, pays shoppers cash for their clothes, shoes and other apparel items and resells them at up to 90% off retail prices.
Trish Couche, originally from Boardman, has been looking for a new venture and decided to try owning her own business. Pete Zinnicker, from Cleveland, also wanted a change and so the couple has taken on the new store together. Trish chose to open an Uptown Cheapskate specifically because, after hearing about the franchise through a friend, she fell in love with the concept and the brand. More than your typical resale store, Uptown Cheapskate holds a brand that is “edgy, urban and in-style,” says Trish. Furthermore, Trish and Pete believe that there’s a desire within the community for a store like this, as they’ve received a lot of positive feedback from those selling to their store. “People are coming in to sell to us and they are excited about it. You can tell by the way they are talking that they absolutely love having a new store like this in their neighborhood.” Which is no surprise. The buy, sell, trade concept that Uptown Cheapskate offers is a win-win scenario. Members in the community can declutter their closets and earn cash on the spot, while style-hunters can find designer clothing at up to 90 percent less than retail.
For several weeks, the store has been buying clothes and accessories in preparation for opening day, which will be Thursday, March 3, at 4 pm. Those who attend the Grand Opening weekend will get the first pick of Uptown Cheapskate Boardman’s freshly revealed selection of items. Plus, attendees may receive food vouchers, mystery gift cards for shoppers, and ticket giveaways to Carrie Underwood, Fetty Wap, and Cirque du Soleil. There will be DJed music and remotes from stations Hot 101, Friday 95.9 and 105.1—who will also be giving away concert tickets.
